Sellis Brokerage LLC ("Sellis Brokerage," "we," "us" or "our") is an independent insurance brokerage based in Bohemia, New York, serving clients in New York, New Jersey and Florida. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, sellisbrokerage.com, and to information you share with us by phone, email or in person.

Information you give us. When you request a quote, fill out a form on our website, apply for coverage or ask us to service a policy, we may collect:

  • Your name, mailing address, phone number, email address and date of birth

  • Details about the property, vehicles, business or people you want to insure

  • Driver's license numbers, current and prior insurance, and claims history

  • Documents you send us, such as declarations pages, elevation certificates or inspection reports

  • When a specific policy requires it, your Social Security number, financial information or health information

Information from others. To quote and place coverage, we may receive information from insurance companies, wholesale brokers and managing general agents; from consumer reporting agencies (for example, motor vehicle records, claims history reports or insurance scores), as permitted by law; from your mortgage lender or other people you authorize; and from public records.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site that referred you. See Section 4 for more on cookies and analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To prepare quotes, compare options and place insurance coverage for you

  • To service your policies, including changes, endorsements, cancellations, renewals and billing questions

  • To help you with claims

  • To communicate with you and respond to your requests

  • To comply with laws and regulations, and to prevent fraud

  • To keep our website secure and improve how it works

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only as needed to serve you and run our business:

  • Insurance companies and intermediaries, including carriers, wholesale brokers, managing general agents and the National Flood Insurance Program, to obtain quotes and place and service your coverage

  • Service providers that help us operate, such as agency management software, website hosting, email and IT providers. They may use your information only to perform services for us and must keep it confidential.

  • People you authorize, such as your mortgage lender, co-insured or another representative

  • Legal and regulatory disclosures, when required by law, subpoena or a government or insurance regulator, or when needed to protect rights, property or safety

  • Business transfers, if our agency is merged, sold or reorganized

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. We handle nonpublic personal information in line with the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the insurance privacy laws of the states where we do business. Each insurance company you are placed with also provides its own privacy notice.

4. Cookies and Analytics

Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site and to give us statistics about visits. We may also use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site. These tools collect information such as pages viewed, time on the site and general location. They do not tell us your name unless you choose to give it to us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly. Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

5. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, and we limit access to people who need it to serve you. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send Social Security numbers or financial account numbers through website forms or regular email. Call us, and we will arrange a secure way to share them. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

6. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information for as long as we need it to serve you, and as long as required by insurance record-keeping laws and our other legal obligations. After that, we securely dispose of it.

7. Your Choices and Rights

  • You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and to correct anything that is inaccurate.

  • You may ask us to delete your information, subject to our legal and regulatory record-keeping requirements.

  • You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law. To make a request, contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before we respond.

8. Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from anyone under 18. Information about minors, such as a teen driver on an auto policy, is collected only from a parent or guardian and used only to provide insurance.

9. Links to Other Websites

Our website may link to other sites, such as insurance company websites and payment portals. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please review their privacy policies.
